Getting started with any project can be stressful. Here are a few things you can expect from me.

Questions are a good thing! They mean you are interested in learning more and I want you to feel comfortable about your editing journey. Let’s see if we can get some things cleared up first.

How do I know what kind of editing I need?

There are different kinds of editing that we need to look into. Developmental is the most comprehensive and focuses on your story overall. It will make sure your story hits readers in the way you’re wanting and that it is complete. Copy and line editing are what most people think of when it comes to editing. They focus more on grammar and word choices to make sure the story is clear.

How do I know my manuscript is ready to be edited?

Your manuscript is ready for professional editing when you’ve completed the story, done a full read through on your own after it’s completion as well as a few weeks after it’s completion when you worked on something else.

You should always take a few weeks away from your manuscript before your final read through to make sure it’s ready for professional editing. This allows you to see the story as a whole as well as find any major changes or mistakes that need to be made before you have a professional step in.

What if I’m not sure if I want to self-publish or go the traditional route?

No problem! Editing is something all books need. If you’re planning to self-publish, editing is something that will help your project stand out. When presenting your project to traditional publishers, having a polished manuscript will help your project shine and let the publishers better see your talent and dedication. There’s no downside to editing!

I don’t even know if I’m going to publish. Do I really need editing?

I always love this question. Yes! Developmental editing can help you find patterns in your writing style while also allowing you to see your strongest skills when it comes to crafting stories. Editing isn’t just about fixing things, it’s also about finding your voice and confidence as a writer.

How long does editing take?

Every editing project is different and has different needs. After you submit a writing sample and complete the Service Inquiry Form, I will create a custom plan just for your project.

Is editing really worth the cost?

If you knew your story could be something you were truly proud of by this time next year, what would that be worth to you?

Developmental editing is about more than just making your story smoother. I want your story to be the best version of itself so that you can go forth with absolute confidence in its quality.

You get more than just a quick bit of feedback when it comes to working with me. I want you to know that you’re not alone in the writing process. I’m here to help you through this journey so you can be the confident author you were meant to be.

I offer interest-free payment plans for editing packages as well so you don’t have to make the full payment all at once.

“I have absolutely loved my experience with Tiffani! When I was looking for an editor I wanted someone who genuinely wanted to make me a better writer. That is definitely what I got with Tiffani right from the start. I have used her author coaching, development editing, and annotation services. I feel that her guidance allows for me to maintain all creative aspects of my writing. She guides me in a way that forces me to think through things, but she also has a keen sense to know when I’m not getting it, and will help me when needed. She has a true gift for teaching that comes with many years in this industry.”

“I have worked with a few editors and have to say that Tiffani is by far my favorite. What I appreciate most is how she doesn’t just point out what needs improvement—she offers clear suggestions that elevate the entire manuscript.

Tiffani has an incredible eye for detail and a true talent for bringing out an author’s voice rather than changing it. She definitely has taken my story and helped it leap from the pages all while being one of my biggest cheerleaders.”

Bridgett E.

“Tiffani is absolutely wonderful to work with. She’s encouraging, firm, and has a wealth of knowledge to share. I’ve become a better writer because of her – and definitely a more critical reader, too! I look forward to working with her again on my next manuscript.”

“When I tell you I was a nervous wreck trying to publish my debut novel, I was a total hot mess. And between you and me—*whispers*—I still am, but Tiffany took me under her Funky Like Feathers wings and gave me some confidence and direction. I was CONVINCED, I was wasting my time, and a terrible writer, while simultaneously believing if I just had SOMEONE to give me some solid feedback and advice I could improve. Turns out Tiffany was that somebody. At first I only signed up for her brainstorming sessions and when I tell you she got the creative juices FLOWING, it was only natural I make her my editor too. And we’ve been not-so-secretly in love ever since. She works with your natural voice and her ideas are solid touch points that only make sense for the natural progression of the story, not just random things she’s pulled from thin air, but things that make your story more well rounded. And then, if you’re like me who overwrites like hell, she’s really good about taking the metaphorical scissors, and cutting away at that excess verbiage. Now, I’m not ALWAYS convinced, but she’s someone who can back up what she’s saying when she says it. If something doesn’t work I trust her to help me understand why. And more than once I find myself saying “you were so right Tiffany!” Needless to say she is my go-to girl and I can’t wait to keep working with her for all of my upcoming books. I mean it from the bottom of my heart I’m a better writer today because of you Tiffany.”
